This past weekend I met up with my friend Taru for a coffee! When she asked me if I liked cupcakes, I didn’t bother to pinch the extra inch – or two – or three on my waist and I immediately responded, “Cupcakes! Yes! Good!”. As a result, she led me down the twisting streets of Hongdae to a lovely, little cafe called Dream Cafe Ssobom (카페소봄) ^^
The outside had some nifty Christmas lights going on, but in general, a lot of Hongdae has the Christmas light spirit going on 365 days a year.
The interior decoration scheme is much more unique. I can only describe it as “uber-cute in a quaint sort of way”.
It’s a lovely place to take an old friend and chat over a cup of coffee while you wait for your made to order cupcake!
That’s right, the wait is sooooooo worth it, because your cupcake comes to you straight out of the oven. I ordered a chocolate cream cheese cupcake and it was a heavenly delight of melty, gooey, chocolatey goodness with a cream cheese center of joy.
I especially love how they emphasize the “cup” aspect of “cupcakes” by presenting the treat in cups with super-cutesy cup sleeves!
My friend went for the blueberry cream cheese cupcake, and both were demolished by the end of our meeting ^^
