Today I had a Taiwanese friend text me and ask me if I was free this evening for dinner with some friends of his from junior high. I said, “sure!” After all, I’m always eager to meet more people and I find it endearing that Taiwan is so nice and small that people still hang out with friends from junior high. So, I followed his directions to meet at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station (國父紀念館站) and was then lead to Japanese curry heaven @ Konaya (古奈屋).

A quick visit to Konaya’s website basically informed me that it’s their only store outside of Japan, so rest assured, this stuff is authentic in the 道道地地 way.

I love how they give bib/aprons to wear. At first I felt a little affronted that they assumed grown adults needed bibs to eat curry, but the waitresses were nice and offered to help tie them on and everything. Then, following the meal, I looked down and was extremely thankful that I’d acquiesced to the bib wearing policy, hehehe.

There’s a shot of my super-super delicious curry bowl! I got the vegetable set. They gave me some Japanese-style kimchi, salad, this huge bowl of udon +curry + vegetables, and dessert!

I love the delicious combination of Japanese curry, udon noodles, rice, egg, pumpkin, corn, broccoli, and snap peas. I think I could live on this stuff.

Oh man, vanilla ice cream mochi. This all was so worth blowing my food budget for the day on.
